Benny Green is a 55 year-old pianist at the peak of his career. His performance in trio format will enable us to see for ourselves the fine quality of his current artistic proposal Since he joined Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers in 1987, he has given piano recitals nonstop, whether alone, as a trio or accompanied by other big-name artists. He has recorded, among many others, with Betty Carter (including the Grammy-winning Look What I Got), Ray Brown, Freddie Hubbard, Bobby Watson and Milt Jackson. In 1997 he saw his dream come true on bringing out a duo album with his great mentor Oscar Peterson: Oscar & Benny. A tireless scholar of all piano-playing styles, Green lists Oscar Peterson, Erroll Garner, Phineas Newborn and Bud Powell as his leading influences.
