Gregory Porter was a huge hit at the 2017 Heineken Jazzaldia. That’s why the Festival organisation has decided to feature him on this year’s programme too, with a different project this time certain to cause yet another sensation with the audience: the songs of the immortal Nat King Cole to the strains of a symphony orchestra. It takes not only undeniable vocal technique, but also a special sensitivity to assume Nat King Cole’s repertoire, and Gregory Porter has both. He is the most important male voice of today’s jazz. Winner of a Grammy for best jazz vocal album in 2014 and 2016, not only are his albums the jazz music with most online downloads, but he has also sold millions of copies of traditional CDs.
