Amaika Rude Sound: The Ska And the Abstract Truth

Miguel Arribas (tenor sax, alto sax), Joan Gonga (trumpet), Adrián Martínez (trombone), Andrés Navascuez (piano), Alejando Ordóñez (bass), Borja Goñi (guitar), Iñigo Elexpuru (drums)

This group combines Jamaican sound with jazz, lending equal importance to both. Their central idea is to turn the famous work of jazz musician Oliver Nelson, The Blues and the Abstract Truth, into the most vintage of traditional Jamaican music. The rhythm section produces a base of ska, rocksteady and reggae over which the wind section applies a jazzy touch.
