This Enfant terrible of jazz, multi-instrumentalist (and vocalist) in his twenties from London started attracting attention thanks to his homemade music videos with versions of classic songs by Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson, among others. It wasn’t long before things started to get serious: two Grammys and being taken under his wing by no less than Quincy Jones confirm that Collier is now a universal phenomenon. “I’ve been waiting for a young one like him for a long time, he’s an absolute genius. I’ve never heard anyone like him, his talent is terrifying,” Quincy Jones told us. These are the words of someone who has worked over his seventy years of career with names including Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Miles Davis, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson… Jones also produced Jacob Collier’s first album, In My Room, released in 2016 (the second will see the light in 2018).
