Caetano Veloso is one of Brazil’s greatest-loved musicians, a prolific composer and singer of unwonted elegance. At this performance in San Sebastian he will present his latest project, accompanied by his three sons: Moreno, Zeca and Tom. Caetano Veloso is considered to be the founder, with Gilberto Gil, of the tropicália movement, adding international pop to bossa nova and other Brazilian styles. Tropicália combines tradition and modernism, the scholarly and the traditional, the countryside and the city, and it was the carefully composed words of Caetano Veloso which elevated tropicália to the status of poetry. He has collaborated with all of Brazilian music’s greats (João Gilberto, Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Maria Bethânia, Djavan, Roberto Carlos, Chico Buarque) and is today one of the most visible icons of that music which has achieved such tremendous international renown.
