Rabih Abou-Khalil started building a cultural bridge between music from the East and West well before world music had become either a concept or a fashion. Known for the skill of his compositions and for his unusual approach to playing the oud, this composer born in Lebanon but citizen of the world has been at the international forefront since the mid-80s. Abou-Khalil has recorded with the jazz greats, with traditional Arab musicians, with classical string quartets, with Armenian musicians, fado singers, symphony orchestras and contemporary music string quartets (Kronos, Modern Ensemble).
